Being There received an enormous response after launching its first issue on August 15th, 2004. Here are some of the e-mails we received:

Hi, I just read some of your magazine on-line & really enjoyed it. I was trying to find out from your website if your magazine is also in print or exists only on-line? If it is in print, I live in Los Angeles and would like to know where I might be able to find a copy? Regardless I look forward to reading upcoming issues!
Thank you, Ed. Being There is currently unavailable in print form and is 100% online. If we do decide to move into print, we will still remain online, with a new issue up on the 15th of every month.

I was told about your magazine and just wanted to say how much I enjoyed it. I'm a daily reader of pitchforkmedia.com and tinymixtapes.com and liked the slightly different take on music (while their sites are obsessed with the most current indie trends yours tried to take a more macroscopic view of things (or so I imagine).
Thanks for putting your thoughts out there. Much appreciated. I look forward to subsequent issues.

A thoroughly enjoyable read and a great name. Chancey Gardener as I have
always called him has been a bit of a leit motif of my life, so I suppose I
may be a bit biased!
Anyway keep up the good work
