Being There's Mailbag

your (writer: ivan fernandez) review of the new mars volta album is the most consistently horrible thing i've ever seen. first off, i don't agree with his review at all, but that's neither here nor there and has no relevance to my point. the thing is, your writer's rebuttal to sinclair of entertainment weekly is entirely basless. why he's arguing against a B -, I really have no idea. Does he really feel that the mars volta deserve a rank among some of music's greatest accomplishments? it takes a lot of brilliancy to create an A album, even a B album, and I would give the mars volta even less credit than that. then ivan fernandez took the route i really didn't want to see him take. he took a cheap (lame) shot at entertainment weekly and bashed sinclair, for apparently being merely on the same staff as a magazine that would hail green day as the saviours of rock. not only does this not have any relevance whatsoever to the review, but the fact is, it's entertainment weekly. for christ's sake, what are you expecting? every magazine has its place in the social strasophere and does what it has to in order to stay alive. entertainment weekly has secured its spot in the (middle-aged) american household, and really doesn't need to find anywhere else. there's other sources for that, and if that's what your'e looking for why not merely go elsewhere. as "cool" as it is to bash green day and entertainment weekly, i would hope that your writers would be above all that. i suppose not.
